The Manor House

Sophisticated re-brand for an independently-run gastro pub.

Based in Quorn and set back from the Great Central Railway, The Manor House is a popular pub frequented by both village locals and passing visitors after a day at Beacon Hill & Bradgate Park.

Serving seasonal dishes sourced locally, and stocking a wide selection of ales, the pub balances high-quality food & drink with a relaxed atmosphere.

The goal of the redesign was to build a visual identity to reflect the atmosphere of The Manor House – a sophisticated, welcoming gastro pub – comfortable, stylish and approachable. The re-brand also coincided with the opening of eight , newly renovated, luxury bedrooms – formerly the neglected barn and outhouses.

Extending the Manor House brand with an illustration style of whimsical drawings.

The new logo retains the hand-drawn feel of the previous rendition, but sheds the generic font and dated feel. Drawn with a pipette and indian ink and coupled with a sans serif font, the replacement flows to create a relaxed, stylish mark – both up-to-date and classic. The refined brand colours contribute to the sophisticated, classic feel – while the extended palette allows for far more flexibility across printed material such as menus and seasonal offers.

The pub’s previous identity lacked a coherent brand and much of the designed material hung together poorly. Once our design team had established a strong, primary brand we could incorporate flexibility into the broader design without the same issue occurring. For example – the wider colour palette provided freedom to incorporate seasonal branding – cosy christmas feasting, summer Pimms on the lawn. We also developed an illustration style and bank of icons that complemented the primary logo and can be used to style or market a particular promotion or service.

Web design & development

With the unveiling of its beautiful new luxury bedrooms, The Manor House website needed to fully showcase them. Visitors can now scroll through large, high quality images of each room. A crisp, clean layout makes it easy to compare the features and pricing of each room before placing a booking.

The multi-functional nature of a venue like the Manor House meant that clear navigation was key, working for visitors interested in booking a stay, hosting a meeting or event, or just enjoying the restaurant. With that in mind, the menus are now more streamlined and obvious, making them simple to access.  And as always, we build our websites to be responsive, meaning that they are easy to view and use on any size of screen, from a smartphone up to a desktop.  Popular actions, like booking a table or room, have been highlighted, while the image-led layout helps to keep written information concise and to-the-point.
