StudentCrowd is a student review platform which allows students to broadcast their opinions on all things related to university life; accommodation, jobs, courses and plenty more. The website allows fellow and prospective students to make more informed decisions and get the most out of the student experience.
Fran has been the brand director for StudentCrowd since 2020 and looks forward to helping the team extend and build the StudentCrowd brand across a number of different user groups. Ensuring that the growing company develop their visual language alongside their user base and impact.
Initially, we were tasked with extending the brand across a number of social media platforms. Tackling both Instagram and Linkedin first. Thankfully, StudentCrowd has plenty of rich content; reviews from universities throughout the UK, student success stories, data insights and advice and musings for students in a turbulent year. We wanted to keep the balance of the StudentCrowd brand feel alongside the authentic use of real imagery.
With brand words of Organic, Trusted and Opinionated, a dozen eggs were keen to ramp up the ‘opinionated’ part of the visual language with bolder typography, a wider range of colours and strong photography. Continuing the brand look and feel into slide decks and data visualisations will be next on the list!
The StudentCrowd site has an impressive presence on Google (thanks to Pete and team, and Limelight Digital) – just type in any UK University and the word ‘review‘ or ‘reputation‘ and you’ll most likely be met with the StudentCrowd website.
The success with search engine optimisation brought with it the need to steer users to the useful content. a dozen eggs have been tasked with making UX suggestions, designing new pages and redesigning components throughout the site. Slowly but surely, we plan to build up a Figma library of components to ensure that any future development work remains consistent.
